CRIMINAL INJURY

If you have been the victim of a crime and suffered injury you have a right to claim compensation via a Government Compensation Scheme. We can assist you in this process however at an early stage we must make it clear to you that there is no entitlement in Northern Ireland under the Northern Ireland Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme for you to get legal costs for our advice and therefore the advice we give you will be deducted from any claim amount.

Our Solicitors are happy to discuss criminal injury claims with you and provide you either with the forms to complete yourself or to complete the forms with you on the basis of an agreed fee prior to proceeding with an action.

SLIPPING/TRIPPING

Tripping on uneven surfaces or slipping on unclean floors are some of the most common accidents which occur on an everyday basis. Although many injuries are minor, there can be more serious injuries sustained. These types of accidents can happen at any time.

If you have been injured in a bar or restaurant, shopping centre or supermarket, caused by tripping or slipping case whether it be on a spillage, water or other substances then there is a possibility that you may be able to bring a claim.

ACCIDENTS AT WORK

Can include:

– Repetitive strain injury

– Dermatitis and skin conditions

– Asbestosis

– Vibration/White Finger Claims

Accidents at work happen all the time and while some of these may result in relatively minor injuries there are also other more serious accidents which may have serious consequences for you both on a financial basis due to loss of earnings and also on a long term basis as a result of restrictions in the job market. We can assist you in making a claim for workplace accidents as a result of the negligence of your employer and seek recovery of compensation for your injuries and recoupment of any wage loss suffered as a result of an accident at work.

Your employer is required by law to have insurance in place to cover their liabilities in respect of accidents which happen in the workplace. If you have an accident in work you may be able to make a claim which is usually dealt with by your employer’s insurance company.

You should also note that employers are responsible for the actions of other employees in the workplace so if your injuries have been caused by the negligent actions of other employees in the workplace then you will also be entitled to make a claim for compensation.

PERSONAL INJURY – RTA

If you have been injured in a road traffic accident that was not your fault, we can help you to recover compensation not only for your injuries but also for the recovery of any other losses such as Policy Excess, depreciation in your vehicle value and medical costs such as physiotherapy costs. In many cases we can even arrange a courtesy car for you.

Even a simple road traffic accident can cause neck and back injuries which have a long term affect and restriction on the victim’s ability to carry on their everyday life.

HEARING LOSS

1. If you experience ringing in your ears and you use other noises to try and mask these difficulties, for example you turn up the TV or stereo, then you may have been exposed to excessive noise in the workplace.

2. If you served or are serving as a soldier after 1987 then you may have been exposed to excessive noise due to a lack of any or adequate hearing protection being provided by the Ministry of Defence, your employers.

3. If you suffer from hearing problems and you served in the RUC or PSNI then these hearing problems may have been caused during your service and exposure to noise from both weapons training and other training issues such as helicopter flights and public order disputes training you may be entitled to claim compensation.

Deafness and hearing problems may take years to develop and because the symptoms can take so long to develop many people do not associate their hearing difficulties with their work Some people just put it down to getting older. One common symptom to look out for is a buzzing sound in the ears which is often caused by excessive noise levels. This is known as tinnitus. In many cases tinnitus may only flare up occasionally but for some people hearing problems can really impact on daily life making sleeping difficult and can result in people even trying to mask the noise by use of radios or CD players
